The Auto Expo has always been and continues to be an eternal state of bliss for any motor head. With the 12th edition of the Auto Expo drawing to a close on a rather positive note, the auto industry hopes that the showcase of style, engineering and design creates a positive buzz in sales in 2014.

The weeklong show saw the debut of 70 new cars including 26 global models. The Expo comes at a time when the auto industry seems to have taken a hit. The annual auto sales of 2013 saw a dip of 9.59% after a period of almost 11 years.

Trending this year is the hatchback, with companies like Tata, Nissan, Maruti, BMW and Mercedes unveiling their new cars this Expo. Also grabbing eyeballs were concept cars – Nexon and ConnectNext by Tata, KWID by Nissan, Taigun by Volkswagen, Figo by Ford, Ciaz Sedan and SX4-S Cross by Maruthi and Adra by Chevrolet.

Showcasing classic American muscle also stroked excitement among enthusiasts with Chevrolet Camaro ZL 1 and the Corvette Stingray C7 making appearances during the Expo.

Adding to the glamour were the Bollywood stars and the little master, Sachin who unveiled the luxury hybrid BMW, i8. The superbike showcase was no less of a crowd puller with Harley Davidson, DSK Hyosung and Hero MotoCorp presenting their bikes and electric vehicles.

All in all the Expo continues to draw in motor enthusiasts from all over with an estimated 5.6 lakh people attending the Expo this year, despite the venue being shifted to Greater Noida. The Auto Expo 2014 was hosted by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufactures) and CII (Confederation of India Industry)
