On the occasion of International Animation day, Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), one of the leading 3D animation and visual effects (VFX) training institute conducted a set design and short film making contest in Hyderabad. Chief Guest, Dr. R.P Khajuria, IFS, Project manager of ‘Clean Hussainsagar’ project and a member of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) gave awards to the wining team.

Over 200 students participated in the contest. A short telugu film, ‘Wake up’ created by the Ameerpet team won many accolades from the audience. But, the set created by, ‘Sea Creatures Disco night’ was awarded the first prize.

Considering the new era of technology, the chief guest at the gathering appealed to the students “to create awareness amongst the public; conveying the message by making use of technology and creative means”. Celebrating Animation day, allows the students to come under one roof and know what is happening in various other mediums, said Khajuria.

At the event, MAAC announced its partnership with the ‘Clean Hussain Sagar Forum’. This would be a joint initiative by HMDA and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) to support the cause. MAAC will help generate awareness about the project by providing digital content and create short films urging people to extend their support.

Mr. Shajan Samuel, Sr. Vice President, MAAC commented, “Over the years, MAAC has been actively engaging students in various creative activities, motivating them in the development of innovative concepts and conceptualizing ideas. Along with technical knowledge and creative orientation, one needs to sharpen his artistic skills well to become a successful animation film maker. We organized this contest to enhance the creativity and imagination level of students and promote animation as the Career of the Future.”
