In response to the attack on the Student’s Federation of India (SFI)’s activist who died on October 1, 2013 in Kerala, SFI Unit of University of  Hyderabad burned the effigy of the ABVP in front of shopping complex, here on Friday evening.

Sajan Shahul, a student of government ITI college, Thiruvanthapuram, Kerala, was allegedly attacked by ABVP activists in the month of August and was hospitalized with serious injuries to which he succumbed on 1st October.

“It is not the first time this is happening to the SFI activists,” said Sampath, a member of SFI-UoH. “Previously Rohit, a student of Himachal Pradesh, who stopped the ABVP activists from harassing a girl student of his college, was brutally attacked”. Adding that everyone had a right to express his/her voice, but not through coercion, he asserted, “Communal forces must be eliminated from colleges and universities. Incidents such as these are dangerous to the democracy”.
